Welcome

The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women may belong.  It is a social order comprised of persons with spiritual values, but it is not a religion.  Its appeal rests in the true beauty of the refreshing and character-building lessons that are so sincerely portrayed in its ritualistic work.  While this is an Order composed of people of deep spiritual convictions, it is open to all faiths, except no faith.  The personal welfare of our members is vital to all of those in the Eastern Star, and it is considered a privilege to help another member whenever we can.

Ann Rutledge Chapter traces its own roots back to 1921, when the membership of Lincoln Chapter decided that an afternoon Chapter would be favorably received in Lakewood.  Lincoln Chapter, founded in 1909, subsequently consolidated with Ann Rutledge Chapter in 1998.  Lakewood Chapter, founded in 1927, consolidated with Ann Rutledge Chapter in 1985.  Ann Rutledge Chapter is chartered under the authority of the Ohio Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

Ann Rutledge Chapter holds two meetings each month except July and August for business, special events and the initiation of new members.  The Chapter calendar typically includes other traditional programs and events such as the Progressive Dinner, Birthday Dinner, Service Award Presentations, and Sisters and Neighbors Recognition.  The Chapter also has two Auxiliaries, Busy Bee and Evening Star, plus the Around The Town Dinner Club, each of which holds its own monthly meeting.

Membership is open to men who are affiliated Master Masons in good standing and to women with specific relationships to affiliated Master Masons in good standing (or if deceased were in good standing at the time of death), including wives, widows, mothers, stepmothers, mothers-in-law, grandmothers, daughters, legally adopted daughters, stepdaughters, daughters-in-law, granddaughters, great granddaughters, sisters, half sisters, stepsisters, sisters-in-law, nieces and great nieces.  Membership is also open to women who are at least 18 years of age and who are majority members of, or who have been active for three years in, the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls or the International Order of Job's Daughters.  For information on membership, please contact the Chapter Secretary
