Welcome

Knights Templar is a Christian-oriented fraternal organization whose members are drawn from the ranks of Free & Accepted Masons, also known as Freemasons or Masons.  It is one of three organizations which together form the York Rite of Freemasonry [the other two being Royal Arch Masons and Royal & Select Masons].

The roots of the Knights Templar can be traced back to the 11th century when laymen organized to protect and defend Christians traveling to Jerusalem.  In modern times Knights Templar display their courage and good will through activities such as charitable fund raising, social events, drill competitions, and Christmas and Easter observances.

Holy Grail Commandery was chartered in 1920.  Through consolidations, Holy Grail can trace its roots back to 1878 when Holyrood Commandery #32 was chartered in Cleveland, Ohio.  Holyrood Commandery consolidated into Holy Grail Commandery in 2019.  Lorain Commandery #65, chartered in Lorain, Ohio, in 1911, consolidated into Holy Grail Commandery in 2006.  Holy Grail is chartered under the authority of the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Ohio, which was formed in 1843 by several Ohio Commanderies whose Ohio roots go back as far as 1818.

Holy Grail Commandery holds one stated conclave each month, except July and August, and a special Saturday conclave each spring for its annual Inspection.  Most stated conclaves are preceded by a pot luck dinner held in conjunction with the ladies of Cleveland Beauceant.

Any man who is a member in good standing of a Masonic Lodge and a Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, and who professes a belief in the Christian religion, may petition for membership.  Petitions for Orders must be accompanied by our current fee of $109 plus the Grand Commandery of Ohio's Knights Templar Eye Foundation assessment of $30 for a total of $139.  For information on membership, please contact the Commandery Recorder.
